  • Do I get Trackman time each visit?
    Typically yes you will get anywhere from 15-30 minutes using the trackman. It ultimately depends on what you need most to improve your game. Usually the beginning of your session will be manual therapy, if needed (such as cupping, massage, or joint mobilizations) followed by therapeutic exercise/neuromuscular re-education and then Trackman time!
  • Are you a golf pro?
    Nope! I am not a golf pro. I am a physical therapist certified with the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) and Trackman technology with a deep understanding of the body-swing connection or the biomechanics that are required to efficiently swing a golf club. However, I am always happy to coordinate my efforts with those of your golf pro, or refer you to one.
  • Do I have to be good at golf to participate in Fairway Fit Physical Therapy?
    No! Fairway Fit Physical Therapy is for all levels of golfers.
  • Will I be sore afterwards?
    It depends. We all respond to certain movements/exercise and recover differently. However, it is likely that you will be sore following your first couple of therapy sessions. We often address physical limitations that have been problematic (or soon will be) or turn muscles on that have been deactivated for quite some time. This can lead to soreness. If you experience soreness, stay hydrated and avoid being sedentary. In order to elicit change in human tissue (primarily bones, however this concept has been applied to muscles, tendons, and joints) we must stress or load the tissue involved in order to get it to change or adapt.
  • Can I get reimbursed through my insurance?
    Your therapist will provide you with a superbill which you may then submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Ultimately, it is your insurance provider that determines if you get reimbursed or not. Superbill: a document that allows you to bill your insurance company directly for reimbursement.
  • Do you take insurance?
    We do not take insurance, however your therapist will provide you with a superbill which you may then submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Why doesn't Fairway Fit Physical Therapy accept insurance? At Fairway Fit Physical Therapy our goal is to give you control of your own health. At Fairway Fit Physical Therapy you will receive care at a premier level that is tailor made to your needs to achieve your personal goals. Having worked in insurance based PT facilities it becomes very challenging when dealing with some of the complexities of insurance reimbursement. Even though most physical therapy clinics and therapists working in an insurance based PT model seek to provide high quality care, the patient or client ends up deviating from their goals. A common theme is that the patient is ultimately just a number and is taken through the same routine each visit by inconsistent or different providers each time. Initially, the client or patient will be seen by the therapist for their first visit and then given to an assistant or tech to follow a list of exercises without specific direction or instruction (or explanation of the why). This leads to inconsistent and discontinuity of care which is where the patient or client ends up drawing the short end of the stick. In some insurance base PT practices, patients or clients will often find that they spend about 15 minutes with the therapist because there might be 2-4 other patients that the therapist needs to attend to during the same time of your scheduled visit. At Fairway Fit Physical Therapy we want to maximize your potential and eliminate obstacles preventing us from doing just that. For that reason, we use the cash based model to provide the care that you deserve.
  • Do I need a physicians referral or prescription?
    You do not need a physician's referral! New York State allows physical therapists to practice without a referral (this is known as direct access). Your therapist will typically send your plan of care (document explaining why you came to seek physical therapy services) to your primary care physician for them to review and sign. This allows open lines of communication regarding your health, fitness and/or pain/injury in addition avoiding discontinuity of your care.
  • What can I expect from my first appointment?
    Your first appointment or what we call your Golf Fitness Performance Evaluation consists of an interview. This will be a conversation between you and your therapist about your goals, why you seek physical therapy services and an overview of your medical history. This is followed by the TPI mobility assessment and then swing analysis using Trackman technology. We will then discuss how your physical limitations may be contributing to your swing characteristics (body-swing connection). You will then be given 2-3 exercises as part of your home exercise program.

  • What should I bring/wear on my first day?
    On your first day for your Golf Fitness Performance Evaluation, please bring your golf clubs and a comfortable sneaker (no need to bring golf shoes). You may consider wearing comfortable clothes or clothes that you would golf in. Shorts, T-shirt and sweats are great options as we will get you moving on your very first day. **Please make sure your golf clubs are clean prior to coming to your appointments.

    Yes! At Fairway Fit Physical Therapy, we treat all musculoskeletal conditions and offer traditional physical therapy independent of being a baseball player or any rotational athlete for that matter.
